Online Depression Support in Ontario and Canada

When everything feels heavy, flat, or far away from who you used to be — support can help you find your footing again. Available online, from wherever you are across Ontario and Canada.

What depression can look like

  • Persistent low mood, emptiness, or hopelessness
  • Loss of interest in things that used to bring pleasure
  • Exhaustion even after rest
  • Difficulty concentrating or making simple decisions
  • Withdrawing from people and activities
  • Harsh self-criticism or a sense of worthlessness

Signs support may help

  • Low mood has lasted more than a few weeks
  • Daily functioning — work, relationships, self-care — is affected
  • You feel stuck after grief, burnout, or major life change
  • You want structure and practical tools, not just space to talk
  • You're open to trying small steps even when motivation is low
  • You want someone to help you build a realistic plan forward

What sessions look like

Sessions are fully virtual — held by secure video across Ontario and Canada — so you can connect from your home on days when leaving feels like too much. We work at your pace, without pressure to perform wellness or pretend things are better than they are.

The approach is practical and collaborative. We might work on building small daily anchors (sleep, light, movement), identifying patterns of thinking that deepen low mood, gently increasing meaningful activity, and practicing self-compassion. Each session ends with something concrete and manageable to try before the next.

Frameworks drawn from

  • Behavioural activation principles
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Self-compassion practices
  • Psychoeducation about mood and energy cycles
  • Routine-building and sleep hygiene support

What you can expect to gain

  • Small, sustainable daily anchors that support mood
  • Greater understanding of your own depression patterns
  • Kinder, more realistic self-talk
  • More connection to activities and people that matter
  • A clearer sense of what a better day can feel like

Frequently asked questions

What if I have no energy to explain everything in the first session?

That is completely okay. The first conversation can be simple, slow, and paced gently. You do not need to have the right words or a clear explanation. Showing up is enough to start.

Is this therapy or clinical treatment for depression?

Ubuntu Consulting offers consulting and psychoeducation-based support, not registered therapy or medical treatment. Sessions draw on evidence-informed frameworks such as behavioural activation and self-compassion practices, led by Suhaila Ali, MA Applied Psychology. If clinical therapy or medication is needed, Suhaila will support you in finding the right referral.

Can virtual support feel personal when I'm already feeling disconnected?

Many people find that joining a session from home — a familiar, safe space — actually makes it easier to open up. Virtual support across Ontario and Canada has helped many clients take that first step when leaving home felt too hard.

How is depression support different from just venting?

Sessions are purposeful and structured. Beyond being heard, you gain practical tools, a clearer understanding of what's maintaining low mood, and small actionable steps to follow between sessions. The goal is meaningful, measurable progress.
